Scoring 26 points in the second half, Queen's Gaels overturned a 25-7 Calgary Dino lead to a 33-31 victory to claim our fourth Vanier Cup since 1992! Against cold and fierce weather conditions and what had seemed to be a dominating defeat, the Gaels once again fought their way through and claimed another victory adding to the hard-earned Mitchell and Yates Cup. The Gaels proceeded to dominate the field in the second half, with a 60-yard-pass-and-run play to a touchdown, marking their comeback in the third quarter. Scoring a total of 12 third-quarter points, they followed up with 2 touchdowns in the fourth quarter to hold a lead of 33-31. Despite the wind to their backs, the Dinos were unable to capitalize on their advantage as the Gaels continued to maintain ball control and forced the match back to the Calgary 50 in the last 3 minutes of the game. With amazing offensive play by quarterbacker Danny Brannagan and defensive play by linebacker Chris Smith, the Gaels finished the difficult road along this CIS season with a thrilling victory attributed to a team full of heart and spirit. Queen's has been the only school to have been competed in the national final in every decade since the establishment of the CIS championship. Oil thigh na Banrighinn a'Banrighinn gu brath! Go Gaels Go!
